Scanography (Previous work)

Genesis (2012)

This set of work was exploring the creation process that goes into making a resolved piece of work but also examining the 4 elements that are part of our creation and existence. Each slice is created using scanography but each represents a different technique of creating work within the confines of this medium, using different fluids, tools and methods. A lot of my theory is based around drawing on people’s subconscious, unlocking their imagination, and linking them back to their fluid origins, and so each piece also contains a bodily fluid to strengthen this link.

Within (2012)

Within is a turbulent discovery of the disorder that occurs when the 4 elements are combined. Using the concepts of Alchemy, the work becomes a platform for chaos to transpire within these naturally occurring forms; to both tantalise and overwhelm the Materia Prima (the state of mind that sees everything in nothing).

Inkography (2011)

Trapping the movement of inks upon the scanners surface I create dream-like scenes with hidden illustrative details to both entice and acquire the viewers attention. Ii am interested in how people interpret my work and how our imaginations relate to or create objects within this abstract scene.

Microscography (2011)

Using the scanner as a microscope, the concept of abstract art is transformed into a clinical inspection of the very makeup of paint, examining the colours and textures invisible to the naked eye. The paint is transformed from an ordinary medium into subject matter that is both visually stimulating and unique; creating a piece open to the viewer’s imagination of what they think they see.

Abstraction (2011)

Abstraction’ is an experimental Scanography set playing with the idea of abstract art, thinking outside the usual constraints. The unusual techniques I use to create my work are pushing the boundaries between abstract paintings and digital art. Due to the nature of this the final outcome can never be predicted and no two pieces are the same.
